Another Distraction Arrives today

As I was painting my Moors this afternoon the doorbell rang and it was Canada Post delivering my Thaw of the Lich Lord "Nickstarter" order (on a Sunday)!

I had bought at the level where I got most of the unique charcters in metal plus the plastic Cultists and the book.

There is not an overwhelming amount of stuff here but I think it is going to be put aside until some time in the New Year.

I want to concentrate on finishing my Saga Arab armies and then Team Yankee will be coming (delayed until December 12th but that is not that far away). I wasn't sure how much Team Yankee stuff I would get but when I was in Fandom and Randy asked me if I was getting any and I ended up telling him I would get both sides!

  1. Nice I guess I will see some similar stuff soon as well, I just did the plastic box box and wizard level. I saw a Canada post van Sunday morning and it scared the crap out of me, thought it was Monday for a short time hah.

  2. The scenarios are pretty interesting in the book.

They are releasing a couple of PDF books in the New Year as well which sound like they will address some of the issues that people have with the rules.

  3. Sounds fun look forward to trying it out. I watched one of the videos on Guerrilla Miniatures Games you tube which was the first mission where there is an eclipse. Maybe we can get 3 or 4 people together and do a campaign in a day or something like that. I would like to do some more terrain for it as well, GW had a nice ruined tower, but they are frustratingly not selling it anymore!

  4. The "Hunt for the Golem" pdf that they released shortly after the main book is would also be good for a one day campaign -- it has 3 scenarios.

I would also like to do some terrain -- and sort through my old D&D miniatures and see what monsters I have.

  5. I was looking at the basic rules last night and I was thinking that a good change would be that you can't place treasure tokens on your own half of the table. That way the tokens will not get placed where it is easy to dash off the table with them.

  7. Sounds cool, I never realized the Litch himself wasn't in the deal for some reason. So I will probably order a few bits in the next couple of days, like the Litch the real treasure thing, maybe the lamp genie. I am down for doing some stuff in Jan or Feb, gives a bit of time to do a bit of terrain, and get in that ship game!!

Might try a few of the 4 ground winter trees also. I regret not getting more of the 28mm ones that battlefront did.

  8. The level the Lich was at was quite high -- I think you had to get all the monsters. I had thought about it but decided it was too much to paint (and to spend!)

If you are going to put in an order, let me know because I was going to order some wizards and maybe some treasure tokens as well.

I am going to try and make some snow covered walls which should work well with with the buildings I have now to make things seem more frosty.

And I read the treasure placement rules again (even more carefully than in my last post) and all the treasure is place and then you roll for choosing the side you enter from so I think that should make it less tempting to line the treasure up along the edge.
